Sealing Gasket and Fitting
The gasket is designed to seal the lid on the 8 and 15 gallon MiniBrew fermenters. We have advocated for many years that this is not necessary. The CO2 builds up inside forming a blanket of gas that protects the ferment. Bacteria will not penetrate this blanket of CO2 gas.
We provide the gasket and fitting for the brewers and wine makers that feel more comfortable with a sealed fermenter. The silicone gasket is FDA approved for food. Once extruded the ends are vulcanized together forming a ring. The new blue gasket fits into a grove molded into the top lip of the fermenter, the lid slips on pressing against the gasket. You may purchase clamps from our parts page along with the fitting that screws onto the lid and holds the airlock. We also carry airlocks or you can purchase them from your local home brew and wine store. /p>
